HALAL CERTIFICATION SERVICES
Verified slaughter
Countries with communities that profess Islam require exporters to comply with the Halal slaughter; a procedure which assures the consumer that food from animal protein has been treated and slaughtered as established in the Holy Quran.
Nowadays, the world has a growing demand for food, especially animal proteins coming from industrial plants that maintain high standards of health for the development of their animal treatment processes, slaughter, chopping, packaging, freezing, etc.
Argentina is one of the largest producers and exporters of raw materials, meat and derivatives of the highest quality.
The regulatory health body in Argentina is the Agri-food Quality and Sanitary National Service, for the care of animal, vegetable health and food safety.
Under the strict supervision and control of the Sheik, the Druze Council of the Argentine Republic offers to the refrigeration industry of our country the slaughter service according to the Islamic Rite – Halal – in agreement with the Protocol of the Sunni School regulation.
The Halal Protocol considers the care of the animal in order to avoid the greatest suffering at the time of slaughter; this aspect is regarded by the Muslim slaughterers.
The procedure (previous to the sacrifice) begins by means of the on-site survey and inspection of the facilities of the industrial plant, in charge of the supervisor appointed by the Council, who will grant the aptitude certificate to the exporter in order to make the Halal task , valid for 1 year from the time of inspection. The “aptitude” of the plant will have to be carried out at least once a year.
Once the plant is verified, a calendar will be established for the concurrence of the Muslim slaughter team appointed by the Council and supervised at all times by the Sheik of the Druze Council.
The visits to the plants are coordinated, in addition, with the premises located in the industrial plant of the health regulator body in Argentina: The Agri-food Quality and Sanity National Service – SENASA, which controls the care of the animal, vegetable health, and food safety.
The coordination of the request for the provision of the slaughter service and the operative relation with the exporter that require “Halal”, will be performed by the Lebanese Argentine Chamber of Commerce, an organization with which the Druze Council has subscribed an agreement of joint cooperation for such purposes.
